Jogging Log - Days 1, 2, and 3

JoggingIn my previous post, I referred to a friend of mine who is planning on entering a marathon. I neglected to include the fact that this marathon is simply a milestone towards the greater project of competing in a triathalon. This triathalon, hopefully, I will be taking part in as well. To prepare for this task I’ve been jogging for the past few days, and decided that it would be a good idea to record my thoughts each day. This way I can see my own progress and relay any important lessons to my readers. Best of all, now I have motivation to keep going!

Day 1:

I hadn’t been excercising much lately, and really did not notice how out of shape I’d become compared to the standard I usually held myself at. After only a few minutes I was quite winded and had a pain in my side which, much to my delight, went away after a few more moments. I only ran a short distance - I didn’t want to start too strong for myself to handle.

After I’d finished, I was quite tired, but at the same time felt really good, both physically and mentally. It was a great start to something I’m hoping becomes a habit.

Day 2:

After Day 1, I was feeling really pumped and excited to jog again. I ran just a little further this day, and intend to increase my distance little by little as I improve and get into better shape. It felt great once again to be outside in the sun with the breeze blowing in my face. I always used to have a distaste for jogging and could never understand why a person would choose to become a distance runner, but after the past two days of doing this voluntarily, I’m starting to see that it’s actually quite nice.

After my run today, I felt even better than I did the day before. I’m wishing this pattern continues!

Day 3:

I woke up quite sore today, and had some company to entertain, so I decided to rest for the day. I may have overrun yesterday, but I think a break won’t do any harm to my schedule.
