How Little Things Make A Big Impact
This story will be short. It was an insignificant occurrence in my day, but it was something accompanied with so much kindness, that I couldn’t resist making a post of it. It really shows how a tiny act can make a big difference in someone’s day.
I was driving home, and decided to grab some food before checking in for the day. I pulled into the drive-thru of a nearby Wendy’s and told the guy working the drive-thru window my order. He seemed a little cheerier than the type I usually encounter, so I was pleased from the start.
My total came to $6.02. Much to my dismay, I had no change, which was really quite upsetting, because I hate having huge quantities of change rolling around in my wallet. As a approached the window, I shrugged to the worker and handed him $7. He took one look at the price, glanced at the money I handed him, and promptly handed a dollar back to me. “The two cents are on me today, sir. Have yourself a great day,” he said with a chuckle, as he handed me my food.
I know, it was only two cents, but it really put me into a great mood. It’s not like either of us needed those two cents, or like I was somehow distraught by the change I’d be getting back - it was just a nice surprise. I guess the lesson here is that sometimes it’s the littlest things of the day that really make the difference.
